No... I think not...

[Her answer comes as a soft mumble against his skin.]

Is that what you would want?

[ramuhs]

[He lifts her up a little higher to make her more eye level, and while there is warmth in his gaze, there's also a hardness, a resolve and seriousness that wasn't there before.]

I want whatever will let us be together for as long as possible. If that includes an afterlife such as this—then aye, I do.

[garudas]

[She exhales, and it sounds and feels a lot like relief, when she sees that conviction in his gaze, burrowing into her and hooking its claws in.]

I had hoped you would say that.

[Her nose brushes against his cheek.]

What sort of life would you want? Here...

[ramuhs]

[He relaxes again as he lightly nuzzles her, lips and nose brushing against her skin.]

I think a nice little home on a hill where we can just have that long retirement plan would be a good start. I'm sure by then we'll be tired of the chaos of living.

[And then a more teasing smile as his lips move closer to her ear for a quiet murmur.]

Especially if we do raise a family of our own.

[garudas]

[She pulls back at those words in her ear, a look of playful shock on her face, parting her lips in a scandalized gasp.]

I am already tired of the chaos.

[She laughs as she leans back in close again.]

And you think we could be happy? Like those two...? Spending an eternity together...

[ramuhs]

I think so.

[He hugs her close at that.]

Unless you grow tired of me by then.

[garudas]

If I have not already, I do not think it's possible.

[Her arms slide tighter around his shoulders, and she buries her face in his hair, breathing in his scent as if she means to memorize it.]

It is just a lot to take in is all. All of this... afterlife. Knowing that... this is where we will both be.

[ramuhs]

I know.

[His hand runs up the back of her neck and through her hair, cradling her in his arms.]

It's a lot to take in for me, too. But we won't be back here for some time yet, so we don't have to think about it anymore. Just knowing it exists is enough.

[garudas]

Mm, I do hope so...

[She moves in to kiss the crinkles at the corners of his eyes.]

We've still a long life ahead of us outside of this place to live first. ... But it does not seem so terrible. Not as I thought.

[ramuhs]

Should we explore a little more then? See what else there before we head out to do the real work?

[garudas]

I suppose we could, yes.

[But her arms don't seem so inclined to loosen around his shoulders.]

Where do you want to go?

[ramuhs]

[A low hum as he also makes no move to put her down.]

Should we walk around here? The view's rather nice.

[And he's already starting to walk.]

[garudas]

[She chuckles against his lips.]

We are going to walk like this? Are you certain you are up to the task?

[ramuhs]

You do feel lighter like this...

[garudas]

[She gives him a very pointed look.]

I believe the correct answer would have been "you are always light, my dove..."

[ramuhs]

Which means you are even lighter than the feather you always are, my dove.

[Smooth.]

[garudas]

[Uh huh... so smooth, but she can't help but laugh at that.]

It is almost as if you had practiced that line for an occasion like this.

[ramuhs]

I haven't the foggiest what you mean. Everything I say has always been natural.

[And down this path he goes...though maybe he should put her down because this is an actual incline.]

[garudas]

Of course it is.

[Maybe he should. She will let him carry her for as long as he wants to, but she will say something.]

Are you sure that you want to continue carrying me? I may be tired, but I can walk, you know.

[ramuhs]

As much as I am loathe to release you...

[He glances down at the path.]

I must it admit it may be easier if we walked together.

[garudas]

[Her arms slide away from his shoulders then, awaiting the moment that he places her on her feet again, and the moment that he does, her hand will find his to hold. That small part of her still needs that comfort, a distraction from her wayward thoughts.]

We should start looking for a path down to the cracks... It was closer to the Uncharted, yes?

[ramuhs]

[With their hands together, he'll lead them down that slow walk down the slope.]

Aye, and it looks like we're not too far from it. They said there was some kind of barrier around the place, so if we likely need to go beyond it.

[garudas]

There may be a barrier, but that does not mean we should let our guards down.

[A light squeeze of his hand as she recalls what Lily and Marcus had warned them about.]

The more desperate souls could still find a way past it.

[ramuhs]

That's true. Could already be inside.

[He instinctively pulls her a little closer, though it is hard to imagine such a thing with fields as beautiful as they are below them.]

Just remember if something does happen, we have that talisman they gave us. Use it to get out.

[garudas]

[She pats the front of her coat where she keeps the talisman within reach.]

A bit strange that the souls could even tell the state of us...
