Who: Cidolfus Telamon & Benedikta Harman. Status: Closed. Where: The Roost, The Farplane. What: Cid and Benedikta move to a new house in the Roost. Event stuff later. Warnings: The usual. :)
It was, aye. Was a bit surprised myself, but does help explain why the house was built there.
[He then takes her hand and nudges her towards one side of the overlook, near the edge.]
But that's not all. Take a look.
[And down below not too far from where they are with some steps down the side is a pool with water flowing over its edge. It's deep enough to have fish, and she will be able to see which kind of fish it is.]
[As if this wasn't already more than enough—too much, even—he leads her through the flowers, and she is careful not to disturb them too much, towards the edge. She is fully expecting a full view of the world below, and she does, indeed, have as much if she looks out. But it is further down along the cliffside where her attention goes, to the pool where the fish that drift through the water shimmer as they swim about.
She instantly recognizes them, and she smacks him gently in her surprise this time.]
You brought them back here!? Or are these different ones?
Mix of the original and new. Might be hard to tell right now.
They are able to swim through the caverns through a series of tunnels and there are other pools, larger ones, they can swim to. Even these can come and go as they please as there is an underwater tunnel they can swim and in out of. But this pool has been "renovated" so to speak so that a few who choose to live more permanent will be want for nothing.
[She stares down in disbelief at the fish, and her eyes follow the path down to the pool, laughing fondly to herself because of course he had made certain of all of this.
He'll feel her squeeze his hand then.]
You were right. I think this might be my favourite surprise.
[She had been about to ask if they should, but there is so much that she wants to see and look at and take in for the first time, because the first time isn't ever going to come again.
With one last look back at the flowers and the sky behind them, she gives a nod and lets him lead her by the hand down the stairs to the pool.]
You really have thought of everything. [A thoughtful pause.] Is there fish feed down there as well?
Aye, there is. The bench doubles as a storage unit, so they will be kept safe from the elements.
[The steps are a little steep, but nothing they can't handle. Still, he'll be sure to help guide her until they reach the bottom where Benedikta can see that the pool goes into the cliffside a bit, beneath the overlook above. It gives ample shade and shelter from any wind and rain that might pass through. There is even a smaller side tunnel entrance to make coming to and from it a little easier from inside the caves.]
[She allows him to guide her down the stairs, careful not to trip on the steeper steps, but truly, they have climbed far worse. Curious, she follows the line of the pool as it winds into a cave, spotting that tunnel on the other side. But where her attention lands is on the fish, several of them swimming over once they see her, as if expecting to be fed.]
I daresay this home is far better than the one out there...
[She has grown strangely fond of these fish, and she kneels down to dip her finger in the water.]
It must look lovely down here when the moon is out.
[He can only smile as he watches her before he moves to the bench, one that has seat cushions that flip over as lids, to get a small cup of fish food for her.]
[Clever of him to pick up what she had been laying down. But she does look back at him with a grin, accepting the cup of fish food and picking at it with her fingers first while she watches as more of the fish dart over to wait.]
There is plenty to keep us busy until then, at least. I woke up this morning expecting to do nothing.
[She says it in jest, of course, as she stands to be at his side. She is actually quite excited about the idea of moving all of their things into this new home of theirs.
A toss of some food into the water and there are splashes as all of the fish clamour for first dibs.]
We could always wait another day if you'd rather. However, if you do wish to start moving things that we'd need, I have a few men ready to go at my signal.
[He smiles and leans in to kiss her softly at her temple, happy to see her so pleased.]
[She leans her head against his, closing her eyes briefly before she's holding out the cup of food should he want to help feed the fish.]
It may surprise you, but I do not mind a little hard work for a good cause.
[And this is, indeed, one of them.]
I would like to decide where things might go... or what else I might want to fill... [A pause, and she takes a deep breath, allowing the words and the happiness they bring to sink in before she says them.] ... Our new home.
[He starts to reach for some of that fish food, but he pauses when she says that.
Our new home.
He was already smiling way, but hearing her say those words...they hit so much stronger than just watching her this whole time. The words seem to echo off the walls, off the water, filling his head with all the beautiful implications. If she wasn't holding a cup of fish food, he might have grabbed her and kissed her right then and there.
Instead, his arm around her tightens.]
Aye...our new home, indeed.
[He looks at her, his eyes unbearably fond.]
You can do whatever you want. Just tell me where you want everything and we'll do everything we can to make it happen.
[A wry chuckle.]
To think we have to do this with two different homes. At least this will be a bit easier.
[She does not need to look at him to know the way he looks at her, nor does she because she thinks she might buckle beneath the weight of it all. This substantial, overwhelming happiness magnified only by the depth in his eyes and his smile.]
I will have to think it over. But I've already had some ideas spring to life.
[She sprinkles more of the food into the water, smiling.]
And if you mean the treehouse... that is a vacation home. No work to be done there.
[A sharper toss of a handful of feed further into the pool to finish off the food. Mostly so that she can turn around to face him, offering a pointed look.]
Like those horrid towels you had. And do not even get me started on the bed sheets...

[He grins.]
It's even wide and deep enough for us to share.

C'mon, you should take a look at the pool itself. Even had a bit of a sitting area.

Fair enough. But do you really want to start moving in today?
no subject
[On one hand, she does not feel like rushing, but on the other...]
... Is it terrible that I am quite eager to start living here?
no subject
[Dusting his hands off, he steps back a little behind her just so he can wrap his arms around her waist, chin resting against her shoulder.]
Now that I know how much you like it, I, too, would like to move in as soon as possible.
no subject
Precisely.
[She beams back at him before tossing more food, watching the fish for a moment.]
We will have to go shopping for new things.
no subject
[They already had to buy new things for the treehouse...!!]
no subject
Well, you can't very well get me a new house and not expect me to want new things...
[That doesn't answer his question, she knows.]
At least some nice new sheets and pillows, and perhaps some dishes...
[As her voice trails off.]
no subject
Suppose what we have were rather quick buys for the time. Rather, they were all things I had acquired before you moved in.
[And they weren't....bad, just obviously very on the practical side.]
no subject
[A sharper toss of a handful of feed further into the pool to finish off the food. Mostly so that she can turn around to face him, offering a pointed look.]

no subject
Come now, they were not so bad.
no subject
They were terrible. Made me feel as if I was sleeping in burlap.
[Okay, she is definitely overexaggerating, just like she had back then.]
As I recall, you quite enjoy the ones I picked out for us.
no subject
So why can't we just reuse them? They should fit the bed.
