[Right. Yeah. Main street in full view would be a place that they would be hard pressed to find.]

I'm surprised there are so many people here already, but... I guess with everything that's been going on, it's human nature to try and grasp for something good.

[There's bound to be something. And fortunately his height will at least help.]

Given everything that's been going on, it's no surprise people would quickly want to do something that's more...peaceful and fun.

[Hm...height... Well if they can't be on ground level, what about slightly higher? That wouldn't be too bad, either, and there are some more wall spaces that could work if he looks there. Designated spaces that he'll point out to her that have yet to be claimed.]

[She nods in agreement, following his gaze until it lands on a spot that he's pointed out. It's next to the window of a boutique shop where someone has already painted on the other side of the door, by the looks of it.]

What do you think? It's out of the sun, too, so we've got some shade.

[He nods after looking around.]

I think it's fine. I'll go in and ask for a step ladder so we can reach higher up. Can think of what we should paint in the meantime.

[It's actually a little easier to try and imagine now that they have the actual "canvas" there.]

Should we try to match what's already on the wall...?

[He starts to say, but it's already a bit random. While whales and marine life are a common theme for obvious reasons, there are also flowers, the sky with sun and rainbows, random shapes and words, people and other animals.]

I think... I already know what I wanna paint...

[Her smile turns soft. Distant.]

But go grab that stepladder if they have one. I'll get the rest of it set up.

[Well now he's curious!! But he'll wait until he comes back to ask, so for now he nods and after helping to secure their spot, he walks in to ask for the stepladder and anything else they might have they could use.

When he returns, he'll not only have the stepladder, but some paints, brushes, sponges—]

They were...excited about us painting their wall, so they offered us these to help. The only restriction they said was that it shouldn't be anything obscene.

[Which is a given, but fair that they make it known.]

[She's in the middle of laying out the paints and brushes that they did bring when he returns, and her brows arch up in surprise at what he's brought.]

They really went all out, huh?

[A sheepish smile, and she makes some room for the supplies.]

But I don't think they've got anything to worry about. Wouldn't even know what sort of obscene thing I'd wanna paint, even if I tried.

[There's a small, dry laugh at that.]

Same. I can only guess someone tried somewhere...

[Which wouldn't be surprising, really.]

So what ideas do you have?

[He has a few, but he was curious what she might be thinking.]

[Oh, she didn't think she would be quite as shy about saying what her thoughts were, but now that he's putting her on the spot, she feels her cheeks grow warm.]

Well...

[She looks at him, then away at the wall, as if she is trying to get a measure of it. Really, she's just avoiding eye contact.]

I was thinking we could do a little mural of both our homes together.

A mural of both our homes...

[At first he thinks his cabin on the beach and her ship, but when that didn't make sense a more plausible answer comes to mind.]

You mean our worlds?

[starshower]

Right, yeah.

[A sheepish look because sometimes it is still a little hard to remember that right now, this is their home.]

Sort of... blending them together, you know?

[flamekthunder]

[A low hum as he looks at the wall before he smiles a bit.]

Yeah. But we could include something from this world, too...

[Hmmm.]

For instance, if we take the sky and an airship from my world...what would you do for yours?

[starshower]

The mountains around Nibelheim, I think. My hometown.

[Because definitely not Midgar, that's for sure, but more importantly—]

I think it would fit really well with the sky and airships...

[flamekthunder]

I think so, too.

[A smile at that as he visualizes it on the wall.]

And then we could have a beach to represent this world, looking on at the view.

[starshower]

[Her eyes go wide with both surprise and affection, and she can't help herself. She rises up on her tiptoes and steal a sudden yet sweet kiss. There is a flicker of something else there—another emotion that she would rather not think about for too long, but it's gone the moment their lips touch.]

... I'd really like that. The place between our worlds.

[flamekthunder]

[The kiss surprises him, but he smiles with some shy embarrassment to see her so happy with the idea.]

Should we add a wolf and bunny to it, too?

[starshower]

[Of course she's happy with the idea, why wouldn't she be? And at his next question, she feels her heart skip a beat, and then another.]

I think that would be cute. Maybe on the shore of the beach, looking up at the rainbow?

[flamekthunder]

[A quiet hum with a light smile.]

Yeah... I think that would be perfect.

[starshower]

[She could look at that smile of his all day, and kiss him all day, but she will have to do with one more savouring kiss before she pulls back.]

I think it would be easiest if we laid out all the paints over here.

[She points to a spot on the plastic tarp that she's set down under them.]

Since we're going to be covering a larger section of the wall, we'll need to use the big brushes.

[flamekthunder]

[And he will happily take those kisses, happy and pleased that she liked his ideas.]

Makes sense. Should we pencil out how we want it to look?

[He'll already start moving the paints over as he speaks.]

Hmmm.

[She turns to look at the wall, hands on her hips now that he's slipped away from her.]

Honestly, I think it might be more fun if we just... started painting.

[Paint from the heart and all that.]

You think so?

[Hmmm. He'll look at the wall again before nodding.]

All right. I'll use the ladder and start with the sky.

[starshower]

I'll get started on the mountains. Maybe from this side?

[She goes to the right side of the wall and makes an arching motion with her brush.]

They'll lean this way, and then we can have the beach down over here, in the middle.

[flamekthunder]

[He looks at where she gestures before nodding.]

I can start from the other end with the sky then... And see where I can fit an airship to fit.

[starshower]

Sky and mountains first, and then airship. The rest of it, we can just put where we can.

[And she's already mixing some colours to create a brownish gray for those mountains, as well as dabbing a bit of green that she'll use for the trees, and as she watches the paint change colours, her expression softens.]

I think it's nice that we're doing this...
