Who: Cidolfus Telamon & Benedikta Harman. Status: Closed. Where: The Roost, The Farplane. What: Cid and Benedikta move to a new house in the Roost. Event stuff later. Warnings: The usual. :)
[She opens her mouth, an amused glint in her eye, and she considers making a joke about the size of the room not fitting the bed she'd want, but...
As she looks at him, the pride and the tenderness in his eyes, she cannot bring herself to say anything but the truth.]
I love it. Genuinely and truly. [A soft laugh under her breath.] I'd thought that I'd be wanting some place bigger, more luxurious... but I've discovered that is not true.
Perhaps not, but I would like to hear if there's anything missing.
[And he will indeed lead her through the door where a full bathroom awaits. Again, it's not the largest thing and it's barely larger than what they already have. Not so surprising given these buildings were built so long ago and with limited real estate.
But because of that, the house actually uses portions of natural rock formations, the kitchen and the bathroom sharing the same cavern wall that the house was built up against. And just like in the kitchen, the main amenities use the formations to their advantage. Most notably, along the curved, rocky wall there is a small shower as well as a large step in tub set in in the back.]
Still have to share one sink, unfortunately, but there is space for a vanity over there by that small alcove.
[He might not think it so surprising, or anything worth gushing over, but the moment that Benedikta walks in, she is slammed with awe all over again. He comes up with something wonderful, and then continues to one-up himself.]
... I think I will forgive the one sink...
[Her eyes are wide as she observes that stone tub, larger than the one that they have now. He's pulled along, of course, as she runs her fingers over the walls, over the counter, the sink...]
I feel as though I should have something more clever than "I do not know what to say", but...
[She takes another moment to just admire the handiwork of it all. This is his work, and he had done this for her. She needs to stop and appreciate it a little more.
...
But not before she whirls around and suddenly throws herself at him, arms around his shoulders and her lips crashing to his for that kiss that she has been waiting for. Her laughter dies into it, the sound still echoing through the room even after.]
[As he hugs her close to return that kiss, the joy he feels from her reaction bubbling over. Really, it's not as if he hasn't shown her a new house before. There was the treehouse as he built it, and he had been just as proud and happy when she showed similar reaction. But there is just something about every moment he can make her happy like this, giving her the things and experiences that they could not share before.
He knows he shouldn't think about it much anymore, but perhaps it's still so soon after the festival it's hard not to briefly think how things were between them just a year ago. And now look at them, practically behaving like newlyweds walking through their new home...
[They pretty much are just that... minus the wed part. And really, while the home down in the caves was their first, this one truly feels like it is theirs. Catered to their whims and wishes, with them written all over it. All of the things that he had modeled and chosen, and all of the things that he knew she would like... For the first time, Benedikta really, truly feels like she is home in every sense of the word, and that feeling only multiplies as she looks at him when they pull back.
I felt you trying to peek through my fingers earlier. So no.
[Not even going to be try to lie, but he won't cover her eyes just yet, instead seeing if she can manage as he leads her out of the door and slowly make their way around the house where she'll hear the trickling water of the waterfall as they pass it.]
[He still eyes her but he laughs. Really he won't mind too much, but it's better as a surprise!!
With both hands now at her shoulders, he'll guide her through until she feels that feeling of fresh air and a cool breeze that she felt earlier on their way up. There will then be a soft rustling like leaves which brush over her as he pushes them through.
Now she'll definitely be able to sense that they are outside, the air clean and crisp and the sound of their footfalls giving way from stone to grass. He's also going to move his hand over hers because he's still waiting until...]
All right, now you can look.
[There's a smug voice, and he has every good reason to be. She will find herself standing in the middle of an overlook with a small field of flowers around them. From where they stand, the view is towards the north side of the island, so they can see the forests below, the cliffs far beyond, and the oceans beyond that.]
[She will behave once her hand is over her eyes, chuckling quietly along with him as she lets him lead her through a winding tunnel. She can feel that breeze as clear as she can feel her own heartbeat, as well as that all-too familiar sound of the leaves, the scent of fresh air carried along on that wind.
She thinks she has an idea of where he might be leading her. The Roost has its fair share of cliffs that Benedikta likes to spend time on. So many of them overlook the ocean, or the forests of trees, but nothing quite beats the feel of the cool wind and the warm sun on those edges.
Except for a few things.
And one of those things is about to make itself known, as her footsteps turn from heavy and echoed to soft as the ground beneath her feet switches from rock to grass. Lush grass...
She is so sure of herself, but the moment that she uncovers her eyes, lowering her hand to her side, a small, genuine gasp leaves her.
Benedikta has seen many flower fields in her day, but this somehow feels so much more special. It may be smaller, but that is not what makes her heart swell. It is the fact that this is theirsβtheir own little paradise among the caves. A place she had wished for, and he found for her.]
Did you... was this here before?
[Awestruck, she turns between him and the overlook.]
It was, aye. Was a bit surprised myself, but does help explain why the house was built there.
[He then takes her hand and nudges her towards one side of the overlook, near the edge.]
But that's not all. Take a look.
[And down below not too far from where they are with some steps down the side is a pool with water flowing over its edge. It's deep enough to have fish, and she will be able to see which kind of fish it is.]
no subject
[A quiet laugh.]
Suppose it is. Better to keep an eye on everyone.
[He then wraps his arm around her waist and looks at her.]
...Do you like it?
no subject
[There's a look of surprise as her arms go around his waist in turn.]
The room? Or the house?

I'm glad...or I would have been in a tight spot.
[A laugh at that, hand swinging hers a bit.]

[She bumps her forehead against his before looking around the room again.]
What, it's not as if you had to purchase this house, is it?
no subject
[A quiet laugh as he tugs her in closer, his eyes shining.]
You haven't even checked the bathroom yet.
no subject
[A nudge of her head, as if to tell him to lead the way.]

There's still one more thing.

And her brows shoot up, her eyes shining.]
One more? I can barely keep up as it is...
no subject
I think this one will be your favorite.
no subject
[A genuinely curious tilt of her head because—]
What more could you possibly have done to outdo all of this?
no subject
Should I cover your eyes again?
no subject
Do you not trust me to keep my own eyes closed?
[And she will do just that.]
no subject
[Not even going to be try to lie, but he won't cover her eyes just yet, instead seeing if she can manage as he leads her out of the door and slowly make their way around the house where she'll hear the trickling water of the waterfall as they pass it.]

[As she nearly bumps into the frame of the doorway as they pass through it.
But as they pass the waterfall, she does peek open one eye to look at it before quickly shutting it again lest she be caught!]
no subject
[Woman, he's raised Mid, he knows how it goes!!!]
no subject
[Her free hand goes up over her eyes at that, her voice taking on an innocent tone.]
And neither did I... only the waterfall.
